Being able to experience football in Europe has definitely been the most important part of my career this far. Playing against top teams such as Crystal Palace, Leeds, and Valencia forced me to raise my standards as a player. Prior to this I grew the most as a player when I was cut from my first ever team, this happened to be the professional academy Whitecaps Fc in my hometown of Vancouver. It was at this point where my mindset was changed completely as I didnt want to have that feeling of disappointment ever again. From there on it was easy for me to understand how I wanted to be as a player and as a person. As I’ve matured as a player, I have been able to recognize the things that have held me back.
Fear, of mistakes, of disappointment, of not doing good enough has always affected me. It was not until recently that I was able to change my mindset to one that learns from my mistakes, since then I have only gone up. Consistently being challenged with older stronger opponents until I was able to recently join a local semi professional side operating in League 1 Canada. I have been enjoying my time so far as my calm and collected play style has benefited me even whilst playing in such fast conditions. It has also shown that I am able to adapt to any conditions i’m put in, regardless of he environment.
