When I was starting to learn and play soccer, my drive to succeed was a problem, as I would get super frustrated if my team didn’t win. As I’ve matured, I have been able to channel that passion in much more positive directions, working to control what I can control by improving on strengths and addressing weaknesses in my skill set. As an example, to improve my acceleration, for the past three summers I have taken speed and conditioning camps. These sessions were initially extremely tough, but as I have persevered, I have seen quite a boost in not just my acceleration, but my overall fitness as well. Though I feel my technique has generally been strong, last year I signed up for a futsal course run by a previous head coach of mine. These before-school sessions run two times per week during the school year and require me to wake up very early, but it was all worth it.
In July 2016 I attended the Stanford University college i.d. residential soccer camp. There I scored (as a defender) for my team, was picked for the all-star game, and was given by my Division I coach from UNLV the highest evaluation scores alongside another player for my team overall.
I strive every day to hold a very good GPA and to also enjoy the work I do. I want to reach Gr. 12 with a 4.0 GPA and strong SAT scores, as I feel that attaining these academic standards will not only open doors for my soccer career in college but for the rest of my life as well.
