I have been playing soccer since age of 6. Some people are talented in dance and others in music. My talent however has been competitive sport of soccer. My dad played soccer and my sister has been playing soccer from age of 10. My sister will be starting university starting September of this year and she will be playing for UC Santa Barbara. I would like to do the same since I love the game of soccer. For as long as I remember soccer has been my pride and passion. Soccer has taught me to how to communicate well with others and how to work as a team. Soccer has helped me to vision what is going on the field and it has brought out a sense of leadership to my persona that has helped me excel at my school. Soccer has taught me how to balance my school life with my personal life and work hard in my honor and accelerated classes at middle school. Soccer has prepared me well with discipline, routine, focus, and hard work to transition from middle school to high school in August of this year. Every game that I play has its own challenges that I have to face and accomplish. The competitiveness skill in soccer has prepared me well for my class room environment. I spend considerable amount of time in soccer after I complete my school assignment, project and homework to get better and be a role model that my older sister has been to me. My current GPA at middle school is 4.10 since I understand in order to play soccer in university, I need to keep up with my GPA as well. My sister got accepted in some of the top universities since she was able to balance soccer with her GPA. She participated in many activities outside of school and recently for her senior project she worked to collect soccer gears and equipment to send to underprivileged kids in South Africa. I would like to do something like that to give back to community what I have gained so much by playing soccer in FC Elk Grove's competitive soccer league. Soccer has taught me never to give up and keep trying to since anything is possible with hard work and determination. Good sportsmanship and good ethic by being a soccer player has taught me how to take a loss in my stride and work from learning what I could have done better in the game. Even though I might not be able to score a goal or might struggle in a game but soccer has taught me to take risk and try to reach my goals in life.
