My name is Erik Larios and I am from Salinas Ca. Over the years of playing the sport of soccer, I have grown passionate of what I do. Playing the position of a Goalkeeper is not easy. The mental strength necessary for such a job can be straining, but it allows for me to grow as an independent individual and develop my skills. At an early age I began to try and find a sort of outlet to block out all the negativity surrounding my community. Money, drugs, and violence manifested the streets of my city. Therefore I began playing the beautiful game of soccer at the age of 12. Offering me a variety of great opportunities and experiences which will stick with me till the day that I pass on. While simultaneously allowing me to forget of all the issues at home. Being that my family was not welcomed here in the U.S.
The sport of soccer has also allowed me to become a better student. Maintaining a high GPA and working towards attending San Francisco state to attempt to obtain a doctoral degree. Yet to do so I have developed certain and particular skills over the years as a student athlete. Aiding me through my journey of becoming a young adult. I have grown to become a leader, one who communicates and voices their opinion for the better of the team's success as a whole. A person willing to take any source of criticism which will allow for improvement. I am an individual who is ready to take the next step and bring it upon himself to better my skills as a person and a soccer player.
