Shane McGraw '25 Recruiting Profile

My soccer career started on a local AYSO team. Due to my size and strong foot, I was often placed in defense. When one of my AYSO coaches decided it was my turn to play in goal, I really fell in love with the game. At the age of nine, I was recruited to play for a local club team that was one year older. For the next two years, I would play 1-2 years up as the starting keeper. It wasn't until the age of 12 that I moved to a club to play with my own age group. Coming from the olders, meant I had more experience in a larger goal and it paid off! I helped lead our team to 1st place in our flight and several tournament finals. 

I've been fortunate enough to be coached starting at a young age to develop and perfect my footwork. I have trained continuously since the age of 10 with keeper coaches to focus on my technique, reading and understanding of the game, and fitness. I do this all for fun!  It is through my continuous training both with my team and my position coach, I hope to play at the collegiate level. 

I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically. I believe that I have the talent to compete for a college team and the focus and drive to earn a college degree. I know that I have what it takes to be a presence and a leader both on and off the field!
