Hello my name is Fernando Morandi. I’ am a Student Athlete at Doral Academy Charter High School in Doral, FL. I've been playing soccer since the age of 7 in my home country of Venezuela. After moving to the United States at the age of 7, I continued playing soccer and persevering academically even though the limitations of having to learn a new language. I love the many different aspects of soccer. One of the things I enjoy the most is the physical aspect of the game, although I also enjoy the technical aspect of it too.
I believe I can contribute greatly to any collegiate soccer program in the nation. I am very confident in my game and although I ‘am not of the greatest stature for a Center Back right now, my physicality and strength compensates greatly for my lack of height. In addition, I have great vision for a Center Back and can read through balls at the moments they are sent. Also, I’ am great in set pieces and have assisted and scored many free kicks in my career. Lastly, I have great leadership skills inside the field, being able to command players and encourage them even in the toughest of moments.
Outside of the field I put great effort into my academics. In the 7th grade I started taking High School math and science classes, and by my freshman year of high school I had completed all my math and science courses for High School. In addition, after finishing my required high school classes, I strive to take more demanding and strenuous classes to prepare myself for the college environment. In college I hope to study communications and one day work for a big sport company such as ESPN or Fox Sports to share my passion for sports with others.
