When I was very young, I fell in love with soccer. As I grew older, my love for the sport grew, but so did the challenges - higher level competition, more responsibility as a team captain with different teams/clubs and, unfortunately, some injuries.
Injuries are a tough part of the game, but can sometimes have positive outcomes. My injuries led me to become a stronger player - mentally and physically. It was tough to watch my teammates battle in games by themselves, while I watched from the sideline. I learned I needed to be a leader off the pitch as much as I am a leader on the pitch. I focused on my recovery and worked hard to get back on the pitch as quickly as possible to get back to my teammates and to the game I love.
I learned to embrace the injuries as opportunities to grow and challenge myself, much the same way I challenge myself academically. In school, I’m interested in taking rigorous classes to get me ready for college.
I want to continue to challenge myself to grow as a student, player and person. I am looking for a college that will help me achieve that goal. I want to go to a school that will prepare me for life and be a part of a team and culture that values commitment and success.
