Johan Kohnen '24 Recruiting Profile

KEEPER - 2024 - 6'3" 175 lbs - #18 National - #6 State (GA) - 3.8 GPA

This is an obvious statement…I love soccer. My name is Johan Kohnen and I have been playing soccer ever since I was 5 years old. I love everything about soccer. I have played various positions in the past due to my ability to read the play, and adapt and execute calmly. However, my strength and passion are between the sticks.

Training hard is what it takes to become a great goalkeeper, but being skilled at reading the plays and directing my teammates is what sets me apart from the rest. I watch countless hours of soccer from all around the world, studying plays and getting a good understanding of the sport. There are many types of players, but not many can read plays very well or anticipate what’s coming. This is also my strength.  I treat every teammate and opponent with respect, and I believe this is one of the most important things to do in sports, and in life.  

I am truly committed to playing in college and beyond if I get the chance. I am not sure at the moment what I want to major in, and am open to which college I will attend. 

What you need to know about me is that I work hard on and off the field with the team, and on my own. I want to become a good leader and with the right attitude and enough grit to push past the more difficult times, I know I can achieve anything I set my mind to. 

Some of my proudest accomplishments as a 7A - Varsity Keeper are playing 1335 minutes in the 2023 season and winning ‘Player of the Game’ on three separate occasions, being ranked 18th Nationally and 6th in State, and being part of a team with a record of 15-2-1. 

I want to continue to better myself as a person and a player, but I also want to  make my parents proud.
