It is hard to imagine attending college without participating in soccer and for that reason I have devoted myself to both mental and athletic development on and off the pitch over the last ten years. Playing soccer has taught me about teamwork, sportsmanship, and competition. I have learned that playing well and losing is better than playing poorly and winning.
Youth soccer gave me the opportunity to experiment with different positions. Under the guidance of supportive coaches I have been challenged to improve my knowledge of the game and technical skills to make me the best I can be in each position. I gravitate to right and left wing positions but I’ve also listened to what my coaches feel best suits their rotation. In those instances I have played striker, wing back and defender with an occasional midfield position. These opportunities have made me a well rounded player and athlete. I’ve developed good field awareness and playmaking movement on and off the ball.
During game play, I can control and connect throughout the building stage with good composure on the ball. As a winger, I stretch the game and split the opposition's back line to create more space in the final third. I create opportunities for teammates with accurate passes. My passing is accurately weighted and I do not get pushed off the ball in shoulder-to-shoulder contests.
Over the last few years I’ve concentrated my efforts on striker and wing positions to make myself a versatile attacking player with the hope to pursue those roles on a college team. I am a coachable, motivated, and focused player with a good work ethic.
Academics are also a priority. I’m currently leaning toward a degree in engineering or science but with another year of high school, I’m still open to explore other degree programs.
