Personal Statement
I don't really know where to start... I am from a small town in Idaho, which is both my greatest strength and my greatest weakness. Living out here, I don't have the opportunities available to those from bigger cities. The nearest club to me is an hour drive away, there are no AP classes at my HS, and I don't have the free time many teens do. I am always working around our ranch, whether it be feeding the sheep, fixing a fence, or putting up a new barn. The simple reality of these facts has chafed at me for my whole life because I knew it would be hard for me to compete with those who grew up elsewhere. However, as I grew older, I realized that these same deficiencies also gave me skills that nobody else had. It taught me that there is always work to be done and it showed me the satisfaction one gets from working hard. It taught me to create my own opportunities - not sit back and wait for them to come to me. Finally, it taught me that I can do whatever I set my mind to, and I have set mine to playing soccer in college.
