Throughout life, there will be many obstacles that need to be faced in order to succeed. Growing up for me was different from others, my family did not have the same resources and help that many others had such as money or people to go to for assistance. My parents came to the United States as immigrants and because of that, they felt scared to ask for help when it was needed. We didn’t always have money to buy certain luxuries such as computers or printers, so that meant that we had to look for places that offered free resources or even other family members that were able to afford them. Having parents that migrated to the United States for a better job and education opportunities has inspired me to be among the first generation of college graduates in my family.
Ever since I was little, my parents told me to never be shy and to take advantage of every opportunity offered to me. That’s exactly what I did. Throughout elementary school and high school I have grown to be an outgoing and well-rounded person because of what my parents encouraged me to do. I have inhabited leadership qualities, responsibility and humbleness throughout my years which has prepared me to overcome my goals and any challenges along the way. It may be a challenge balancing school, sports, a part time job and community service clubs, but being able to do a great job at all those things proves that hard work makes many things possible.
I am a freshman a Northern Illinois University who is looking to play soccer at any school who gives me the opportunity to show my dedication, leadership and responsibility qualities to contribute to their team. Anything other than graduating college and taking advantage of opportunities is out of the question.
