Personal Statement
Self-motivation never has been a problem for me; having grown up in Winnetka, IL in a middle class family in an upper class setting always left me a bit behind my peers socially and financially. I was always the one whose parents didn't go to that party last night, or the one wearing the newest, coolest pairs of shoes. Being raised there made me almost constantly hungry to one day have the money to be able to get my own children some cool things of their own, and this served and still serves to this day as a big motivator for me to work diligently both on the field and in the classroom so I can make it through college and have a decent profession at the end of it all. To get me ahead of the competition, my mom has worked to get me to attend soccer training internationally at Voa Goleiro (Fly, Goalkeeper) and Santos F.C. in Brazil. She has also gotten coaches from overseas to come over for five and six weeks to train me personally for three or more hours a day, six days a week.
I became interested in soccer at the age of four when my mother introduced me to it. She and my dad got me onto the local AYSO team, and from there, my passion never stopped. I've learned about myself that engaging in activities that require all of my immediate focus are the ones that I am best at; off the field, I am generally hyperactive and a little jittery, but once I'm within the eighteen, it all goes away and I am able to concentrate wholly and completely. My academic goal for high school is to finish Summa Cum Laude (4.4/above GPA) and get straight A's the whole way through. I am also interested in the civil and architectural engineering fields in higher education, and have aspirations to attend a school with an esteemed engineering department. Overall, my biggest goal is to finish college with a good education and a bright future.
