Hi,
My name is Connell Travis. I am a junior at Lake Park High School and a goalkeeper. I play on my varsity soccer team along with my club, Chicago City, where I play on the USL U19 Academy team. I am looking to continue my career in soccer at the college level, and I know I have what it takes to do so. Soccer has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and the love and determination I have felt for the sport has never wavered. I am a hard working student who strives to improve myself every day and to create new goals as I go. On the field I work not only to improve my performance, but also my teammates' performance as well. I am a team player along with being a very coachable player. I listen well, and I am able to adapt to different styles of play and instruction. As a goalkeeper, some of my strongest attributes are my quick reflexes/reactions, and my athletic shot stopping ability. I am also a commanding presence on the field, being vocal to my teammates about position, pressure from opponents, and morale. The hard work I put into training, whether it's goalkeeper training, team training, or just conditioning, it all reflects on my performance on the field. I know that there is always room for improvement, and because I have this knowledge, I won't stop working to be better.
I am dedicated to the field, but off it as well. I have consistently achieved honor roll and high honor roll throughout my first 3 years of high school. I am also a multi-sport athlete as I play volleyball and swim for my high school as well. This helps me stay in great shape even during the off season. I have worked as a lifeguard during the summer at a busy pool so I understand responsibility and how important it is. I have a good work ethic; it is the main key to my success in managing all of my responsibilities. My family and friends, who are my main supporters, have also been very important to my success. I fully believe that I will be able to succeed at college/university athletically and academically.
I am very determined to achieve my goal of playing college/university level soccer. I am flexible when it comes to school location and background. I am undecided at the moment to what I want to major in but I have multiple different things I am looking in too. I am looking for a school where I am able to fulfill my academic goals along with my athletic goals. This would preferably be a school with good resources and a competitive soccer team. I really do think I have the ability to perform well at the college level, and I just need the opportunity to do so.
Sincerely,
Connell Travis
