Nolan Runde '23 Recruiting Profile

One rule I have stuck to throughout my life is always to work hard and never give up. Not just in soccer but in my academics and my everyday life. For as long as I can remember, soccer has been one of my greatest passions and best teachers. Soccer has taught me communication skills, a better work ethic, and overcoming loss. Besides learning new people skills and a new work ethic, soccer has shown me how to be a leader and helped me to excel in school.

Throughout my high school career, I have achieved many goals and accomplishments that I aspired to reach. I have played and started on the high school varsity soccer team since I was a freshman. During my senior year, I scored sixteen goals, making me the second-highest goal scorer on my team, and I was named captain of the Teutopolis High School soccer team. My team and I have won the St. Anthony-Teutopolis Soccer tournament two years in a row, appeared in two regional championships, and won one to move on to sectionals. I made the Effingham Daily News All-Area Soccer Team, and Alex Wallner put my name and picture in the Effingham Daily Newspaper. Concluding my high school career, I have been accepted to Decatur, Illinois' Mid-State Soccer Club on the U18/19 team. I am training with the team for the regular season on Monday nights every week until March, when we start outdoor practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Besides achieving great goals athletically, I have attained more significant academic goals. I have been on the honor roll all four years of high school, but during my senior year in the second quarter, I made the high honor roll. I have been in the National Honor Society for two years with a GPA of 3.7. I was accepted to the National Society of High School Scholars. With these academic achievements, I plan to join the medical field or explore the science of biology.

My dream is to play soccer for the rest of my life. I cannot imagine my life without soccer. The sport has taught me so many lessons and continues to teach me day in and day out. I dream and work to build my way up to the professional level. I yearn to continue playing soccer, and playing soccer in college will allow me to continue to build up my dream.
