My life has revolved around soccer since I was about 4 years old. My parents introduced me to other sports but none of them caught my attention like soccer did. I loved playing soccer; it was and still is a way for me to get away from everything in the outside world and focus on myself. I took an unexpected blow on November of 2017 when I tore my ACL while playing indoor soccer. The impact the injury had on me was tremendous; however, I feel like it helped me grow not only as an athlete but also as a person. Throughout this journey, I was able to take a step back and look at things with a different perspective. It allowed me to focus on the positives and learn from the negatives. It was truly a humbling experience which, in the beginning, was quite difficult for me. In the end, though, I am grateful for the life lessons I obtained from these dramatic, eye-opening moments. After taking part in an ACL reconstruction surgery and one full season of running long distance in track, I was ready to come back to my sport. Thankfully, I was able to play soccer this year on my highschool team. The season has been going great, and we have only lost one game and have beaten teams ranked number two in the state. Furthermore, I have gotten the unique chance to show my courage and leadership as captain of the team. Not only do I excel in the field but also in the classroom, in which I have worked really hard to achieve a 3.9 GPA and take part in a variety of clubs outside of school like NHS, DECA, HOSA, Key club, French club, Junior Optimist club, etc. I am looking for a program that not only fits me athletically, but also academically. I am looking for a program where I can showcase my talent in the field and in the classroom. I believe I not only have the skill to play for a college team, but most importantly, I have the work ethic, character, and initiative to excel in your team.
