Personal Statement
Throughout my life, I have consistently moved because of my father’s military service. I developed my passion for soccer as an elementary-age child when my family was stationed in Germany. I moved 3 times in Germany and then to Northern Virginia, always maintaining my passion for the game and continuing to play for top-level clubs wherever the Army sent my family. The Summer before my 8th-grade year, my family moved to Italy, and I was uncertain about many things, including the opportunities for continued growth and development in soccer in my new environment. I harnessed this uncertainty into an opportunity for language growth and cultural immersion, learning Italian and earning a starting spot on a top team in Veneto since my arrival. The challenges I have faced as a military child have afforded me the opportunity to become a versatile player.
I will soon face another hurdle as I move to Germany for my Senior year. I have begun my German language development and training and recruitment for soccer opportunities in my new hometown to challenge myself in athletics and academics as I integrate into this new environment, and as I transition to college where I will continue to challenge myself in academics, soccer, and ROTC. Despite the challenges I have faced in my non-traditional path, I am thankful for my opportunity to demonstrate my resilience and continue to strive toward my goals. Soccer has been my constant in a life of change, and I am excited to continue my journey at the college level.
