AwardsBright Spark- The Bright Spark award is presented to one student in the year group whom the teacher believes is putting in the most effort and showing the greatest improvement in creative arts subjects such as art, design technology, music, etc. Due to my lack of previous knowledge in design technology, I had to work extremely hard compared to my peers to achieve a good grade. I visited the design technology department every day during free periods and stayed after school to gain knowledge and stay on top of my coursework. The faculty noticed my dedication and honored me with a Bright Spark award, which I was extremely proud and honored to receive.
Languages- Throughout my life, I have encountered numerous challenges in learning new languages due to my family's constant relocation to different countries. Among the languages I've had the opportunity to learn are Swedish, Bahasa Indonesian, Spanish, and Thai. However, the one that stands out the most to me is Spanish. This is because
ActivitiesCharity work- Throughout my life, I've engaged in four charity events, but two particularly stand out to me. The first one was when I was twelve years old when me and two other friends played tennis for twelve hours straight. Through this we raised huge sums of money for the Smile Foundation in Bali, and I'll never forget the owner's personal visit to us in which he congratulated us on our achievement. The second memorable charity event took place in Vietnam when I was 17. Accompanied by my mother and brother, we visited an orphanage housing children who had been abandoned or were disabled. Here I learnt a lot of things about Vietnamese culture that were quite shocking and sad that I hadn’t known about before. We noticed that they had a lot of broken things like a TV so we bought them a TV and they were very thankful for it.
Reading- I love to read a lot and my new favorite book is meditations by Marcus Aurelius. This book means a lot to me because it teaches me how to overcome hardships in my life. After reading and annotating meditations I have found that I have been much more productive due to me being more disciplined in things I thought didn’t matter like sleeping and my diet. I have also noticed that when faced with problems and challenges both inside of school and personal relationships I feel much more confident when taking them on
