Athol Munro '24 Recruiting Profile

Thank you for reading this personal statement. 

Soccer has always been a massive part of my life. I was born in Scotland, moved to Ontario at a young age, and have been playing organized soccer since the age of 4. I moved into an Advanced Development Program at 7 and OPDL (the Ontario Provincial Development League) at 12. 

For the past 5 years, I've captained my team, winning 11 tournaments, including 3 in the USA. 

I am currently playing League 1 U20 and Mens, at 17 years old. In August 2023 I made my League 1 Premier (open age, 2nd Division of Canadian soccer) debut.

In the past year, I have been fortunate enough to have won the League 1 U19 West Division, The Woodbridge Champions League Showcase (U19 Top Division), The Phoenix Cup (U17 Top Division), and had an undefeated Season winning the U17 OPDL Premier Division and post-Season Charity Shield. 

I was the starting Centre Back on the U17 and U16 Ontario Provincial Xcel Team (Team Ontario), and played in the U16 MLS Next Dallas Showcase with Toronto FC Academy.

In October 2023 FTF published their Top 100 2024 Graduates, where I ranked #11 in Canada. At FTF's invitation only combine for the Top 60 ranked players in Canada in July 2023, I was voted overall defensive MVP and a first XI All Star. I was also voted in the first XI for the entire League for the 2023 U19 Season.

As I pursue College I am interested in the fields of Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, and Legal Studies, and I am looking for an opportunity where I can thrive on and off the pitch.
