Highlight VideoHello Coaches, my name is David Carano. I am a 2005 born athlete playing goalkeeper for Woodbridge SC 05 OPDL boys team. I am also a grade 10 student attending Holy Cross CA in Vaughn, Ontario. I have had a great love of soccer since I was 4 years old and have always loved being in goal. I live for pressure and love making a big play and leading the team. I have a passion for soccer and love to be on the pitch as much as possible, whether it be to improve and train or to just have fun with friends. I am also a team player and will do whatever it takes to win or get a result that a coach is looking for. I am an extremely hard worker and I strive to get the best out of myself and the others that I am training with every day. I am currently looking at getting a scholarship to a college or University in the United States and have ambitions to play professionally as well.
Over the years of playing in goal I have had some incredible experiences and accomplishments. I had the opportunity to play for the Ontario Provincial team in 2019 and was a trialist in 2020 before the pandemic. I also had the most clean sheets in the OPDL regular season in 2019 while getting 11 clean sheets in 20 games. My team also conceded the least amount of goals in the same season while only conceding 9 in 20 games giving us a goals against average of 0.45 in the regular season. I played every minute for my team as there was no other keeper on my team at the time. In the same year my team and I also won the OPDL regular season with an undefeated record and reached the OPDL Charity Shield final. Furthermore, my team and I won the Umbro Cup final in a penalty shoot-out where I saved 3 spot kicks. I was also inducted into the Richmond Hill Sports Hall of Fame for my season as I was playing for Richmond Hill SC at the time.
In terms of education, I have received the honor roll in my grade 9 year at Holy Cross CA having a GPA of 3.6. I have not really decided on a major yet but I am very interested in the Sciences, specifically Biology and Chemistry. I also have a love for the environment and living things so biology is a major that I am really considering.
Overall, I am excited for the future of my soccer career so I can continue to make memories and have these great experiences with my teammates and coaches.
