Melvin Bonilla '20 Recruiting Profile

For as long as I could remember it all started when I would play in my backyard with my older brothers when I was 6 years old and they would put me in net. My interest in the sport furthered by playing with friends non - stop all day which gave me passion and love for the game.

What I learned about myself through playing soccer is developing leadership skills for example, encouraging my teammates and bringing a winning mentality to the team. It got me out of my comfort zone and forced me to step up in my position and lead the team on - and off the field.

My goals for high school and college is to maintain a high gpa and get my diploma. For college my aspirations is to get a scholarship and to continue to develop as a goalkeeper and to perform to my fullest potential and eventually pursue a professional career.

My lead by example approach has lead me to be a strong leader on and off the field. Holding myself accountable for all my actions while encouraging my teammates to be better individuals. Sometimes playing as striker has helped me develop my footwork while also having better positional understanding of the game.
