Julian Muñoz '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello! I am Julian, a third-year junior high school student at the renowned Swiss School in Mexico. In the USA, that would be equivalent to 9th grade. I proudly represent the Venados de Yucatán team as a right defender and right midfielder, playing "liga MX" that is the equivalent for MLS Next in USA. Sports have been my passion from an early age, and I'm delighted to share some highlights of my incredible journey.

With over 9 years of dedicated soccer practice, I've honed my skills and developed an exceptional shot with both legs. Training between 18 to 24 hours per week keeps me at the top of my game. My training regimen is diverse, including plyometrics, swimming, road biking, running, technical and tactical sessions, and strength training. This comprehensive approach has shaped me into a versatile and dynamic athlete.

However, my love for sports extends beyond soccer. I have a thriving history in triathlons, achieving victory in numerous races throughout Mexico. Embracing the triathlon's demanding nature has instilled discipline and perseverance in me, essential traits for any high-performance athlete.

My family's athletic legacy is nothing short of remarkable. Originally from Guatemala, we moved to Mexico City due to my dad's work at 3M and my mom's involvement with the World Wildlife Fund, WWF. Both of them are avid runners and triathletes, with my dad securing second place in prestigious marathons like the El Paso Texas Marathon and the Mountains to Beach Marathon in Ojai. My mom's soccer prowess led her to play in Guatemala's first division, inspiring me to follow in her footsteps.

Sports run deep in our blood, and I am proud to have family members currently shining in the MLS and a cousin holding the record for the fastest ascent of Denali as a mountaineer. This shared passion for sports has become an integral part of our identity as a family.

As a high-performance athlete, I understand the dedication and commitment required to achieve greatness. My dream is to continue excelling in both soccer and triathlons, making my family and country proud. With the unwavering support of my loved ones, I'm ready to embrace every challenge and conquer new heights in the sporting world.
