Nico Perez '24 Recruiting Profile

I currently live in Barcelona , Spain where I have recently signed with FC Terrassa, a semi-pro team in Barcelona. This is my fourth year here, I was offered a scholarship during a summer program back in 2019.  I am a Senior and attend Barcelona High School.

I decided to come to Spain because this is an excellent opportunity to train with a European coaches, get a hybrid training with US and Europe.  I also wanted to come to become more competitive by training with top European coaches.  I train with kids from all over the world, all cultures, customs, languages etc.  I learn new things every day, not only in soccer but also in everyday life.   Although I am fluent in Spanish, European culture is very different from my own culture in Latin America, but I have adjusted easily. 

I believe this opportunity has made me grow more, help me to become independent.  I have also learned how to face adversity on my own, and realized that I have to create my own path.  I have been here since I am 13 years old, and although I miss my family, I know that there are sacrifices that need to be made to reach my goals. 

When I come back to the US, my dream is to play top soccer at a top university program, and eventually in MLS.  The opportunity to play against  top European Youth teams here has really helped me strengthen my skills not only at the pitch, but also in my character.  I know what it takes to be a top athlete, and I am determined to prove it.
