Personal Statement

Within school, at Radnor House (My previous school) I really enjoyed learning languages and I have been nominated to school’s “Excellent Pupil Program” in Spanish and French, which is a program that further pushes the abilities of top students in a specific subject. My keenness to learn foreign languages comes from my passion for travel, discovering new cultures and meeting new people with whom I would like to communicate in their local language. In addition, I dream to live abroad, especially in countries such as Spain, France, where I usually go each summer for soccer camps. Besides Spanish, French and Polish (which is my mother tongue) I speak fluently in. In the future, I would also like to learn another language, such as German or Japanese. The Japanese language would permit me to further explore the fascinating Japanese culture, mixing the strict tradition and fast technical developments, and different way of leaving, which I was able to savor when I was visiting this country few years ago. Furthermore, I relish learning geography and history which I have done for the past four years for my GCSE’s. In history, I found the World War II topic particularly interesting, exploring it from different perspectives, using multiple sources, as well as delving into the more emotive aspects. These two subjects, in addition to my languages, create a perfect base for understanding and exploring new countries during my travels to new places, which I try to do as much as possible during school holidays. And this academic year due to my excellent GCSE results I managed to be accepted into a boarding school called Epsom college which is currently ranked 21st in the United Kingdom. There I study French, Spanish and Economics for my A-levels which I am thoroughly enjoying.

Furthermore, I am a keen sportsman. I love to play soccer, which was apparent since I started walking. I have played in numerous youth academies for around twelve years now. In 2005, I started playing in Manchester United soccer academy in Dubai. Then I played for a soccer academy “Delta” in Warsaw and then went onto play for a soccer club called Sheen Lions. I was very dedicated to the team, which has resulted in me becoming the team captain. The team has had many victories over the past couple of years, such as winning our league cup twice and last year coming runners up in the surrey youth league and second place in the Surrey Cup. Naturally, I am very proud of the team’s achievement. Recently I have joined a new school called Epsom college this school is very keen on their sports especially soccer. I managed to be selected for the first soccer U18 school team. And recently we went on pre- season tour to Valencia, in order to make sure that we were ready for this year’s season.

As mentioned above soccer and travel are my key passions. For traveling: especially when it comes to the Americas and Africa. I find that these continents provide a variety of experiences, have many beautiful places, great climate and nice people. The difference in culture is also something that fascinates me. In South America, I visited Chile, Brazil and Argentina. My favorite places were Buenos Aires, for its culture and history, and Iguazu Falls, for its sheer scale created through unique rock formation and natural beauty. I have been to the USA many times; my favorite cities are San Francisco and New York, which have so much to offer for tourists. Last time I visited New York, I was able to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, which gave me a great understanding for the history of this great city from factual and emotional perspective. I was able to visit these amazing countries and many more on almost all continents thanks to my parents as it would not have been possible without their shared passion for travel. I am very grateful that I was able to gain all these experiences, which have further fueled my passion for exploring the World. And for soccer I love to go to Spain particularly Madrid as I fell in love with the city and their passion for soccer. As a result of this I have been going there to the Spanish Soccer Federation (RFEF) to play high quality soccer. And I have been recently invited to help the coaches this summer as they saw a clear determination and passion for soccer.

In order to pursue my dream I would like to study and play Division 1 soccer in one of the top colleges in the United States. Where both academics and Soccer is at an extremely high level.
