Personal Statement

I want to go to a good American College with high academic standards, so that, in the future, I can have access to a good job any place in the world. Besides, I would like to play College soccer at a very competitive level and, if dreams ever come true, I could have the chance to play professional soccer. But my main goal in College soccer is to help the College soccer team win very high competitive tournaments. Things that make me a good candidate for the team are my knowledge of what's going on in the game, and also where to be and when to be there, my defending, my calmness with the ball, my pitch vision for passing the ball and, on top of that, my attitude to fight every ball like it is the last ball of the game. In the academic field, what I do best is trying to be a step ahead of everyone in the class. Also, I am a disciplined and organized student turning in my assignments earlier than on time with best quality I can achieve. I am particularly fond of Math, Business Studies and, to a lesser degree, Sports Science.

  • 2024 Villarreal C.F. 'C' (U18)
  • This 2023/24 season with my team in Spain, Villarreal, we placed 10th place out of 18 teams, in the Preferente Juvenil Division of the Valencian Community. We had a total of 34 games in the season, with a record of 13-11-10. In this season for me, everything was completely new, it was a new country, a new club, and a different style of soccer I was used to. It was a more physical game in where the speed and intensity of the game was just another level. In order for me to get playing time I needed to train hard and win the coaches approval. Luckily that is what I exactly did, since pre-season I was able to learn and adapt quickly to this new style of playing in order for the coaches to put me in the starting eleven. Out of the 28 games I was eligible to play (the other 6 games I wasn't because I didn't have my certification to play in Spain yet), I played 27, 23 as a starter and the other 4 coming in as a substitute, a total of 2207 minutes becoming one of the top 5 players in my team with the most minutes in the season. All my hard work was rewarded through the season as I was invited a good amount of weeks to train with the 'B' Villarreal team. My coaches saw me as the captain without the armband and highlighted my eagerness to learn, my capacity to understand the game, work as a team, and lead with example.
  • 2023 Sporting Cristal (U16)
  • In the 2023 season with my team in Peru, Sporting Cristal, we achieved 1st place out of 12 teams, in the Oro (Gold) category of the Peruvian lower divisions. We had a total of 37 games in the season, with a record of 30-6-1. It was a particular season for me as I was only a part of the team till July, when I moved to Spain to play for the lower division of Villarreal. Out of the 19 games I was eligible to play at Sporting Cristal, I played 15, all of those games as a starter, playing a total of 1350 minutes. The 4 games I missed were because I was on a tryout in Villareal or I had exams at school. In the 15 games I played, we, as a team, were able to achieve 8 clean sheets and a record of 14-1-0. I was also able to help my team with 2 assists and, durning the time I was at the club, I was the second captain of the team. In the coach's reported opinion, I averaged a score of 4.7/5 in regards of how well I played the games. The team ended up becoming champion, achieving 96 points, 22 points over the 2nd place team, with a goal difference of 101, scoring 129 goals and only receiving 28. Not only that, the team was the best team out of all the divisions and teams which play in the Oro (Gold) Category in the Peruvian lower divisions. Also, in the combined table in which the points from all divisions are combined, Sporting Cristal became champion, having the honor of having the best lower divisions out any team in Peru. The coaches and directors of the lower divisions in Sporting Cristal highlighted my calmness with the ball and my way of playing and passing from the back, also my aerial dominance. The coach also told me that in me he found a leader inside and outside of the pitch.
  • 2022 Sporting Cristal (U15)
  • In the 2022 season with my team in Peru, Sporting Cristal, we achieved 2nd place out of 12, in the Oro (Gold) category of the Peruvian lower divisions. We had a total of 32 games in the season, with a record of 20-5-7. Of the 32 games, I played 13, 12 as a starter and 1 as a substitute, playing 1086 minutes. I missed 10 games because of 3 months of injury. The other 9 games I didn't play, I wasn't in the list of 18 who went to the game or I was a substitute, but I didn't enter the game. In the regular season I played a total of 4 games out of 12 possible, the other 10 were the games I was injured. In 3 of the 4 games I played, I recorded 90 minutes and in one of them I played 6 minutes, with a 3-0-1 record. My best moment in the season was in the playoffs, where after recovering of my injury I came back and out of the 10 games of the playoffs, I played 9 games, in which I played the full 90 minutes with a record of 6-2-2, and the game I missed it was because I had to represent my school in a international tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 9 games I played, I also scored a goal against the 1st team in the table. In total of the games I played we achieved a 9-2-2 record, with 6 clean sheets and only 1 yellow to my name. The coaches and the supervisors of the youth divisions, highlighted the strong mentality I showed in a tough season, my discipline and calmness with the ball.

  • South American Activities Conference - Varsity SAAC Soccer
  • 11/17/22 to 11/20/22
  • The teams that participate in SAAC tournaments are all American international schools of South America. In 2022 I was chosen by coaches as one of the sixteen players that went to the tournament to represent our school, Franklin Delano Roosevelt the American School of Lima. We placed 2nd by reaching the final, where we lost 0-1. This was a great achievement because even tough we lost, our team was mostly made of sophomores, when other teams only had seniors and juniors playing. Physically this was a disadvantage, but we pulled through by playing as a team and demonstrating that physique is not everything, as we had great technical abilities. As a team we had a 3-1-2 record, with one of the games that we won, being through a penalty shootout in the semi-final, where I volunteered as the first one to shoot. This showed the coach my leadership skills as I was the one which was leading the team into a penalty shootout, taking that weight off the team, as I scored the first. This is what the coach expected from me, because at the time I was the only one who played in the Oro (Gold) category in Peruvian lower divisions and I had more experience than others. In the tournament I scored 1 goal and made 1 assist.
