Personal Statement
Soccer has always been my dream. I knew it was not going to be easy and staying in India was only going to make it harder. I was aware that I had to work hard, both academically and athletically. It all started with my first selection for the National Games where for the first time I got a glimpse of my dream turn into a reality. From then, there was no looking back. I played 3 more Nationals after that and represented the Delhi State and CBSE team. Besides the Nationals, I played several school, inter school, zonal and state level matches. The various experiences over the past years; national games, leading my school soccer team, fulfilling the duties of vice sports caption of the school developed me in various way. Along the way, my determination of achieving my goal of playing world class soccer became stronger and seemed achievable.
I always though my stamina and my speed were my greatest strengths in the game but as I advanced and underwent intense training, I found my technical skills of placing and positioning the ball on the field became my greatest asset. I could strategise and use my team mates in positions of advantage and soon I was leading my team as a captain. I also have the innate ability to be a team member first, always put my team first and be a mentor and a companion to my team mates. This characteristic along with my time and resource management, helped me get the prestigious title of Vice Captain Games for my school and being part of the student council taught me a great deal on the management front. My coaches , at school and at the various training academies, elevated my game to an extraordinary level and I am now poised to move to the next level.
I saw an opportunity to fulfill my dream in the USA and I started working towards it. I managed to score well in my SAT and Toefl and continued to train hard. I worked day in and day out and now feel a college where I get to play soccer would be a culmination of my efforts and I do think it is well deserved. I will continue to do my best and this sport is something I love and enjoy and giving it my everything is all I want to do
