Personal Statement

Dear sir,

First of all, I was very glad when my father told me about this particular chance in US, and I would like to thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself.

I have been playing soccer from 2005 to 2009 in a Soccer Seven-a-side Scholar League, and since 2009 in the Official League of the Royal Football Federation of Madrid, Spain, playing in the teams "Las Rozas C.F." and "EFMO Boadilla", both from Madrid.

This year I am going to start as a freshman student in the "Universidad Politecnica de Madrid", the grade in Aerospace Engineering. I don't want forget the options for studying and playing soccer at the same time in a university in the States. I am very interested in attending in a University of the United States as a freshman beginning in August 2017.

As you can see from my attached profile, I take my academic studies very seriously. I am certain that my goals fit perfectly with those of your program of athletic scholarships. For this reason I'm determined to make the most of this opportunity. I'm bound to end up playing soccer and studying my degree in a worldwide recognized University of the United States.

I believe that my academic record, my attributes playing soccer and the years as soccer player make me a good candidate for a student-athletic scholarship in the United States. For me, the value of education, effort and work are something that I have understood since a very young age. My parents made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to instill in me a love of learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication in all scopes of my life (personal, scholar, athletic, social, etc.).

Because of their love and sacrifice over the years, I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to achieve the academic and athletic accomplishments: Honorable Mention Diploma in Education Secondary, Olympic Scholar Games medals in soccer and 300 meter-race, Cups in several International Youth Football Summer Tournaments. These achievements got thank to be able to study in a private school with a very high level of demanding, even though money has always been tight in our family.

Talking about my objectives in the United States, I am interested to play soccer, to study a degree in the field of Engineering, and to have a through knowledge of the American Lifestyle in order to understand the cultural values of daily life. I want to obtain this degree of Engineering because it has an excellent reputation for quality of education. I believe that being a athletic-student in a university of your country would not only empower my career development in a close future, but would give me a highly qualified specialization to be used in a global labor market currently extremely specialized, besides the possibility to play in a high level men's soccer team league.

In addition, as a Spaniard, I believe that studying in English in the United States can help me acquire greater fluency in the English language, which, in turn, will help my future international jobs and a lasting friendship with my American's friends.

Considering these goals, I am sure that the skill and experience that I will receive in the United States will not only aid my personal, academic and sport development but also empower me to achieve whatever challenge in the future.

If I am selected for your team with an athletic scholarship, I will continue to apply the same diligence to my future competitions and studies as I have to this point, making education and soccer play my top priority. I will represent the men's soccer university team and the university very well during my years in university and beyond.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Jose Antonio Sanchez Lorenzo.
