As far back as I can remember, soccer has been a big part of my life. Some of my earliest memories are living in Scotland, and all the kids playing pick up games of “Futbal” every spare moment. I loved it, and looked forward to it every day. When we moved back to Kansas, another boy from England and I found a competitive team together and played until I moved to Oregon 5 years ago. Since my club team is not the most competitive, I have made it a point to guest play with as many teams as I can. I have been a guest with teams from Illinois, Tennessee, North Dakota, Minnesota, Utah, Kansas, Costa Rica and Germany, among others, and have won tournaments in Minnesota, Kansas, North Dakota, Tennessee, Florida, and Oregon.
The move to Oregon was difficult because the local team was less competitive, and no one knew me, so it took time for me to fit in. I was moved around to play wing, striker, and defender before a coach realized that I was best at controlling the tempo, finding the pass that other players can’t see, and sending players through on goal. I tend to be very accurate with passes and crosses, and I am very good at passing to where the player should be or weighting the pass well. I have been playing central midfield for a couple years now, either defensive or attacking mid. I like to play a European style: fast ball movement, through balls, possession and switching the field in a free-flowing type of game.
I am a solid student taking almost all dual credit or honors courses. Academics are important to me, which is why I am looking for an excellent school that also has a very competitive soccer program. I have not decided on a major, since I don’t really know all the options that might be available, but I enjoy history and politics. I don’t know if soccer will be part of my long-term future, but if that is an option I will take it.
UPDATE: Due to financial difficulties, the college my parents worked at had to let a number of employees go. My mom's job was eliminated, so we are moving back to Kansas to be near family while my parents look for something. I will be living in Sterling, KS. I will be attending school there and looking for a soccer team in Wichita. My contact information should stay the same.
