James Leonard '25 Recruiting Profile

In college I aspire to be someone who lifts spirits and brings positive energy to a team. I want to be the player whose attitude doesn't change no matter the score. All the coaches I have had all love my athleticism and determination on the field. I am a sweeper defender who covers and cleans up other peoples messes but I am also a skilled 1v1 defender. On the offensive side im not scared to break the line with a dribble and create chances from the middle third. I am a patient player who will use the time given to look and find the best pass to make in most situations. On the field I never trash talk opponents or bad talk the refs. If I speak to an official its always in a normal tone as if we are having a conversation not an argument. I never get in fights with the other team and if an opponent tries to provoke me I ignore it and let my game talk. In the athletic department I am a Centerback that wins aerial balls and ground balls. My strength allows me to dominate my opponents in all aspects. My strong point in my game is covering ground. If i ever get beaten its very rare that I don’t have a successful track back and win the ball, slow down the play, or prevent a goal. Academically I have shown massive growth from my freshman year. Coming back to school from the pandemic was a struggle and it was hard for me to get back into a good academic form. It was also hard for me to adapt to being a student athlete in High School. However, I am now back in my rhythm and finished my 2023-2024 school year with a 3.92 GPA and High Honors all four quarters.
