For as long as I can remember soccer has always been a major part of my life. Some of my earliest memories are watching MLS games and highlights with my dad. These games made me want to play at the next level, starting as early as my town soccer travel team to now at the collegiate level. For me college is about more than soccer. I not only want to play at the highest level I can but also push myself academically. This fall as a sophomore my high school team made it all the way to the Division 1 state finals and I captained my club team this spring to the Massachusetts semi-finals. In the classroom I focused on my school work and finished with a 3.5 GPA and I am pleasantly surprised to report my favorite classes this year were history and physics.
My goals for college are to continue to play at the highest level and to continue to push myself on the field and in the classroom. On the field this fall I developed into a much more physical central midfielder, playing against Juniors and Seniors at the varsity level. My coaches have always praised my soccer IQ and ability to help the team maintain possession while serving penetrating passes from the defensive third and midfield into the attacking third of the field. On my club team I was named captain which created additional opportunities for development. From leading team warm-ups, texting reminders to teammates about practices and games, to being a bigger voice on the field this has been an incredible year to develop as a player and leader.
My hard work on the field has translated into the classroom as well. When I think about college I see myself finding ways to capitalize on my passion for sports and see myself majoring in Business, Sport Management, or even Physical Therapy. While I know there is much that I don’t know about these fields, I have always enjoyed learning from my teachers, teammates, and coaches and I believe that some of the most exciting years are ahead of me in the classroom and on the pitch!
