Personal Statement

Growing up ever since I was a young, athletics and education has always been a big part of my life. I’ve played multiple sports as a young kid and mostly played basketball and soccer during middle school and now in high school. I am a successful student-athlete. I know how to be organized and balance my time between academics and playing high school and club sports, and what it takes to be successful in both areas. I hope to continue my personal growth as a student–athlete in my college years. I plan to major in engineering or in the computer science and information technology field.  My goal is to get a college degree and to play soccer for a school of any size, which possesses a high level of soccer as well as a high level of education.

As I continue to grow both physically and mentally, I believe I would be a great asset to my school and soccer team in college. I have a high work rate on the field as well as off the field, as I put my best effort on everything I do.  A few changes and experiences have been part of my growth as a player. I had to move up to the older age group from U12 to U14 during the birth date transition, which meant I would need play with a new team of older players and play a different position (right back) initially while trying to earn a starting spot.  At times I played as a left-back, right-back, and midfielder for my high school varsity team. Being as a center-back is my primary position, this experience helped me learn to apply and adjust my play, skills, and my understanding of the game to be a better player and to help my  team succeed.

As a center back, I am a team player and a vocal communicator to help the team stay organized in attacking and defending. Having good field vision, anticipation, awareness, technical skills, and a good understanding of the game are some of my important characteristics as a soccer player.  I’m confident, tenacious, and very coachable, as I am able to listen to my coaches and apply their directions in my play. I appreciate and have great respect for my coaches and teammates. Based on my experiences playing for my club team, as well as high school soccer and basketball teams, I’m able to fit and adapt to most teams and get along well with my teammates and coaches. I look forward to using my best abilities and characteristics as a player, student, and community member to contribute to the school and soccer team which would be the best fit for me. Thank you for viewing my profile.
