My name is Tyler Matuzak. I attend Dakota High School in Macomb, Michigan (Graduation Year: 2024). I realize I am young and several years away from graduating high school, but it is definitely my dream to play soccer in college. My goal is to continue to grow, learn, and develop into the best student, athlete, and person that I can be.
I started playing soccer at age 3 in local recreation leagues. When I was 8 years old, I made the jump to travel/club soccer and joined Vardar. This will be my fourth season playing on Vardar's US Soccer Development Academy / now the MLS Elite Youth Development team. With the U12 Academy team, I played in 19 games and scored 7 goals. At U13, I played in 20 games, scored 5 goals and had numerous assists as primarily an outside back or defensive midfielder. Our U14 Academy season was off to a good start. My team had a record of 8-2-2 in Academy games before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
My proudest soccer accomplishment so far was when I was invited by the Portland Timbers to participate with their U12 team at the Generation Adidas Cup in Frisco, Texas (April 2018). I was also invited to the US YNT ID Camp for 2006 Boys in September 2019 (Obetz, OH).
My coaches and teachers will say that I am hard working, driven, a great teammate, and an excellent kid who is full of energy. I am a competitor. I hate to lose and I love to make things happen on the field. In addition to travel soccer, I also play travel baseball. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.
I am excited to see if I have what it takes to play soccer at the collegiate level. Thank you for viewing my personal statement!
