Personal Statement
The best compliment I’ve ever received when it comes to soccer is that I can “manipulate and control the flow of a game like nobody my age.” This really meant a lot to me, because soccer is a game of flow and energy. Whichever team can control the rhythm and momentum of the match generally wins. My greatest skill on the field doesn’t involve my feet, it is the way that I command my teammates and keep everybody involved in the game. I love spraying the ball around and slowly dictating the tempo because soon after, the ball is flying around the pitch and my team is dominating the game. It’s a euphoric feeling, truly like no other. To have complete control over a game. My goal in every match is to leave a mark on the game. To influence my teammates, coaches, fans, and opponents in a positive manner. If I can step off the field knowing that has been done, win, lose, or draw, I am content. I’ll leave off with a motto that I’ve always followed, and that I encourage all of my teammates to as well. My performance follows my attitude, it never affects it.
