- 2022 Highlights
Personal Statement
I am currently a sophomore attending Williamston High School in Michigan. I am fully committed to my academics and development as a soccer player. Academically I excel in mathematics, science, and history and I currently have a 4.125 GPA. I am keeping my choice of career path relatively open, but see myself entering a career involving mathematics or science such as chemical or mechanical engineering.
I have been playing soccer since I was seven years of age. I fell in love with the sport the instant I first watched Ronaldinho dominate Real Madrid in the 05/06 El Clasico match. I have spent my whole athletic career trying to score goals to celebrate like he did. It is what I love doing more than anything.
I faced several challenges over the last couple of years including multiple (six!) injuries. The most severe injury occurred in early 2022 while playing in a futsal tournament and resulted in fracturing a metatarsal bone and tearing several ligaments in my dominant foot. My recovery took several months including many weeks of physical therapy sessions. I felt very discouraged at times and came close to quitting all together.
However, this choice would have deprived me of my ability to play the sport I love at the highest level of my ability, and I decided to do all I could to get back to the field as soon as possible. I came back stronger than before and even went to Croatia to train with the HNK Rijeka youth academy team during the summer of 2022. Those weeks in Rijeka were a highlight of my soccer experience and I was invited to return next year to train with them again. I have continued to put in good performances for all teams I played on since coming back, and I think this perseverance is something that sets me apart from many other athletes.
I would like to go to a college or university that provides both strong academics that align with my interests and a competitive and dedicated soccer program that will allow me to continue playing and develop athletically in the sport that I love.
