Soccer is more than a sport to me. I have been playing soccer since I was five years old and playing goalkeeper since I was nine. Being a good goalkeeper takes quick hands, fast feet and tough mentality, I display these qualities when I play the game. I believe soccer is a team sport made up of individuals playing a position and I as the GK vocally give my teammates guidance throughout the game. As a goalkeeper quick decisions have to be made and I commit to the play. I've always known that I wanted to play soccer for as long as I can remember. I have been setting my goals on the next highest level of play and now I'm working toward the highest college level.
I work well with others and my work ethics are to work my hardest at all times, while being an athlete that is extremely coachable. I am not afraid to take charge of a situation and I strive to be the best that I can be by pushing myself both physically and mentally on and off the field.
I have maintained 3.90 or above while being involved in two church bands as well as high school band during track and soccer seasons. I enjoy being a part of praise team, in some ways it's like being on a soccer team. I play percussion which leads the tempo for the band. When I play on the praise team at church I feel like I'm a part of something bigger than myself when we lead worship. I like our time together as a team when we practice and pray for others. I also do volunteer work during the fall at a disabled home during their fall celebration to raise money. I have also volunteered at an animal training facility for the disabled and I've worked with younger kids at our church.
I want to be successful in both the classroom and on the field by working hard and striving to do my best. My classroom goal is to get my bachelor degree in chemistry to move forward with a doctor degree in medicine or as a veterinarian. I enjoy chemistry and the sciences and want to further my studies in this area. While I shadowed 2 different vets in our community, I became increasingly more interested in this area of study and yet at the same time I want to keep my options open to further study anesthesia as a possibility.
Being a good role model on and off the field is important to me. I plan to carry my Christian faith, hard work ethics and what I have learned from my parents about being a Christ like and faith filled person into the next chapter of my life in college soccer.
