Sven Oberg '25 Recruiting Profile

I have played soccer since I was 4 years old. I want to play college soccer because I love the competition of the game and the continuous action. I enjoy and thrive in a team environment where we all strive together to reach a goal. I am a 2 year captain on my soccer team and a 3 year captain on my basketball team. I have also recently been awarded All-State in soccer.

I play Center Defensive Midfield for my team and am the glue that holds our team together out on the pitch. I am a team leader, I am coachable, and I lead by example by doing my best at all times. While I am right foot dominant, I am very comfortable and effective dribbling, passing, and shooting with both feet. My team looks to me as our “quarterback” out on the pitch, directing traffic. I get the most joy from setting up and seeing my teammates succeed from my helping efforts. I strive to improve myself as a soccer player, by lifting at ETS for strength, playing on 1-3 summer teams a year, and competing in both track & field and basketball, to increase explosiveness and speed.

In addition, I always strive to do my best in school and hold myself to a high standard. I have a 3.99 GPA and a 33 composite ACT score. I am taking as many dual enrollment courses as possible to jumpstart my college career. My favorite subjects are math and science and I am interested in studying Mechanical Engineering. It is important to me that I go to a school where both academics and athletics are a priority. Outside of sports I am Student Council secretary, on the Minnesota Honors Society Executive Board, in Knowledge Bowl, and love to mountain bike, frisbee golf, and fish. I am an Awardee of the CollegeBoard National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program because of my score on the PSAT. Going on mission trips with my church has shown me that I want to help others more than anything else and will strive to bring a team to a place that is great for everyone. 

I want to attend a school where I am pushed to learn both academically and athletically. I am not set on any one destination and wish to get the best education possible paired with the highest level of competition possible.
