Personal Statement
Ever since I started playing soccer it has been a goal of mine to be the best player and to work harder than anyone on the field. I think the work ethic of a player is the most important trait and this is what really drives me every time I step out onto the field. I always want to push myself further everyday to become the best and most intelligent soccer player I can be.
This was not always the case however. It was not until a few years ago that I had a couple coaches tell me I was not tall enough or strong enough to play on the academy teams that something clicked. At that very moment a fire was lit deep inside me. All I wanted to do was show every player and coach that it did not matter how tall I was or how strong I was, I could play with the best guys on the field. Since that time I have been pushing myself hard everyday. Whether I am in the gym lifting weights or on the field training or in my backyard putting in the extra time, I push myself as hard as I can. So now I am always one of the hardest working guys on the field. Work rate is a key stat for me, one of those stats that it is hard to track but one I feel is critical for any great player.
Through perseverance and dedication to the sport of soccer I have earned the right to be a starter and captain on each team I have played for. Trying to lead my team to victory each time I step on the field. This type of work ethic led me to be selected to the 2016 US Club Soccer ID2 camp in Connecticut. I was one of 240 boys from across the country selected and the only player selected in Missouri. It was a tremendous honor and a great experience.
I carry this same work ethic into my life outside of soccer. In the classroom I also push myself to be the best I can be. For the past three years at Chaminade I have carried a A average and have had the opportunity to take honors and AP classes for college credit. In addition, at Chaminade we are required to obtain a certain number of service hours doing work for the community we live in. This is a huge part of becoming the person that I want to be. Working on myself and my growth is very important and it makes me feel good to succeed however there is a certain feeling I get when I do something for someone else. This is just another way to help me be the best person I can be and I can see myself always wanting to do for others.
