I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old here in my small town of Broken Bow, NE. I have tried many other sports throughout my life including football and cross country; however soccer has been my passion. Since our small-town high school does not have a soccer team, I have had to seek out opportunities in surrounding communities as far as an hour away. I’ve played on Nebraska United for a season and learned an appreciation for the competitive nature of the sport.
I work hard in the off season by hitting the weights. I know that weight training is very important to maintain stamina and strength and I excel at going to the gym consistently. Because of this dedication I have a very strong work ethic and leg.
My most recent soccer playing experience has been with an immigrant group of adult soccer players from Sudan and Somalia that live in a town about 45 minutes from us. I have gained extensive real-world experience playing with competitive adults that grew up playing soccer every day in their home country. I have overcome language and cultural barriers to relate to them, build relationships and earn their respect. The opportunity I had to play with them has strengthened my confidence in my goalkeeping ability and my overall soccer knowledge.
My faith is important to who I am. I believe my skills will speak for themselves, but my quiet and humble leadership ability will stand out in a team atmosphere. I lead by example with maturity and integrity. I look forward to working with a coach to develop my skills as a soccer player, especially as a goalkeeper, and I look forward to fine tuning my leadership skills as well.
