Hello Coach,
Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile and allowing me to show you why I would be a good fit for your soccer program based on my academic, interpersonal, and athletic skills, which will ultimately lead your team to many championships. As you know the job of a team is to score goals and a great team is one where every player is committed to contributing to this effort no matter what position they play. I am committed to be a member of such a team.
I am in my senior year of High School and looking back at my academic progress, there has been a steady improvement in my grades year after year. This improvement occurred even after adding college level AP classes because of my strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow. Having to do most of my junior high remotely during covid allowed me to develop the study habits and computer skills that I still use today. Being one of the top 20 students in my class of over 500 students is the result of this hard work and perseverance and will help me succeed in college and on the pitch.
Being raised in a family where both my parents worked for the local University, I was exposed early to college academic life and met many professors and coaches, which helped both my academic and interpersonal skills to develop. Playing for different sports teams allowed me to meet different coaches and to push my comfort zone of shyness and make new friends. Attending an urban public school that is very diverse, has exposed me to students of different cultures and backgrounds and taught me how to communicate and work with them.
My adult sister introduced me to soccer when I was four years old, and I quickly learned to love and play the game. None of my schoolmates played soccer so, starting in the first grade, I would pack my soccer ball in my bookbag every day, and I organized games during our lunch hour in the playground. We did not have soccer goals, so we marked off a couple of squares in the chain-link fence to play. This was not good for my soccer ball so a couple of years later my mom and dad wrote a grant request to the County Legislator for soccer goals, which made playing much easier. As you will see below, playing for many different teams and coaches, my technical skills were slowly developing but, during Covid my development increased greatly, as I was outside more and practicing many hours a day. For a couple of years now, I have been doing weight training and improved my diet to natural and healthy foods as well as doing sit-ups and pullups every night in order to develop my athletic physique. As you will see soccer is an important part of my life and I am studying all aspects of the game, which will make me a more rounded player. Playing for you in college will help raise my skills to the next level.
