Benjamin Bern '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Benjamin Bern and I am a senior at Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, New York. I am in the JROTC program and will be graduating in the class of 2022. 

I've been playing soccer since I was three years old. I play for Blackwatch Premier Football Academy, a New York Red Bulls affiliate program. I am looking to play college soccer and continue my academic and athletic career at a program where I can help the team win as well as improve as a player every day. 

My most prominent qualities are being able to deny a forward space with the ball, taking any player off of it, acquiring possession, and taking care of the ball by finding open teammates whether that is a pass into the midfield, or a longer ball into space where a forward can find himself closer to goal. I use my mind, speed, strength, and technical ability to put myself in the best position whether our team is on or off the ball. Knowing what to do before the ball gets to me is something I value. It helps myself as well as our team to be one step ahead of the opponent. Under pressure or not, a defender needs to be calm and collective with the ball to make the best decisions possible. With all this said, I am looking to raise my game every day, whether it's on or off the pitch. The main goal is always to help the team win.
