Personal Statement
During my freshman year of high school, I was a lost student who didn’t start on the right track. Now, with an increase in consistency in my academics and skill in soccer, I feel that with my growth mindset, I can be a great candidate for any team and it’s community. I differ from other athletes due to the fact that even though I did start playing at 6, I started to take soccer seriously last year as I found the sport as a way to be myself and motivate me to get me and my family out of my honestly, unsafe community of Brooklyn. I know I’m nowhere close to the perfect player (honestly still somewhat a beginner), nowhere close to the smartest student, and still have flaws like composure; but I commit myself to the sport and will do anything to succeed in it. Soccer to me is a form of art that allows you to connect with new people, like language. NCSA and my family will make my journey much easier to connect with college coaches and get my career up and running.
