My name is Lucas Ortiz, I have been in love with and playing soccer since the age of ten. I have studied and worked with my coaches, my teammates, and my family to understand all aspects of the game I know and love. I understand the necessity to stay positive and focused for me and my team-on and off the pitch. I am looking to enhance my college's education and soccer programs as well as further my personal journey in soccer. My goals are to contribute to my school, my teammates and grow as a student and as a player. What I think makes me stand out is what my father calls coachability combined with the ability to lead a team from the defensive third of the field as well as contribute to and score. I have always been a team player, and I am always learning more about the game. I try to play with my heart and let my character show on and off the field. My passion for the game runs deep. I also run track-well enough to be the among a handful of freshmen to race for my school and qualify to race at counties along with other races in my first season on the track team. My experience at track has improved my speed and allows me to quickly counter. Academically, I currently have a 93% average as I am taking three honors courses and one AP course this school year. My academics are especially important and a priority for me. I was a National Jr Honor Society member each year before HS never scoring a grade less than 90. I am focused to continue that by remaining in High Honor Roll status in my freshman, and now, in my sophomore year. My goal is to develop a relationship with colleges that view me as viable candidate to represent their academic and athletic reputation.
