I was lucky that when I started playing soccer at 4 years old and until I was 11 I had a coach, Andrew Bascome who played and coached soccer all over the world. He taught us to be the best soccer players, actually I was living in Bermuda so it was football players, that we could be but more important that there was more to the game. The game can also teach you many things about life and those lessons were to make you the best person you could be - to your teammates, to your club and to your community.
When I moved to NY when I was 11 years old there was definitely a different coaching philosophy but my soccer experience helped me integrate in with my new team, my new school and my new community. Being part of a soccer team has helped me learn the importance of health and well being, taking on leadership and training roles, the value of the team over a player, and how a team can give back to their community and make a difference.
Soccer has been my primary sport for my whole life so I can't imagine not playing in college but realize my education is the reason for college and want to find a school that has the education I want and the soccer program that fits. I have not decided on a major but my interests include a business or economic degree in combination with engineering.
