Matteo Kanakaris '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coach,

My name is Matteo Kanakaris and I am a Senior at North Shore High School in Glen Head, NY. I’ve been in love with the game of soccer ever since I can remember. I feel my love & passion for soccer comes from my “blood” as my mom was born in Argentina, and I spent so many summers in Argentina while growing up. My grandfather also played semi-pro soccer in Argentina and played a big role in my understanding and schooling of the game at an early age. I have played competitive soccer since 5 years old – North Shore Soccer (2009-2014), Boca Juniors NPL (2014-2016), and currently with East Meadow SC ECNL (since 2016). I have also played on ODP Regional teams for 2 years (2015-2017) & Varsity HS soccer for the past three years. I am very excited to continue my passion for soccer into my college years.

In college, my goals are to be successful on the field and in the classroom, while graduating with a degree from a great college or university. I am very motivated and confident in my personal academic and athletic abilities and would be an asset to the university I attend. I am a very coachable person as I always want to improve & continue learning, whether it’s on the field or off. I have a great vision & 6^th sense for the game. My biggest strengths on the field are creating plays and scoring opportunities, while being very technical and fast in tight spaces.

It’s been my dream to get a great education & play soccer at the highest level I can.
