Jonathan Escobar '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jonathan Escobar. I am currently a junior graduating with the Class of 2019. I attended Glen Cove Schools from K-10 and i was recruited for soccer by Portledge School where i currently go and will graduate from. I aspire to play college soccer at a high level while studying to become a pharmacist. I have always been in advanced classes since I was in middle school. In college, I want to continue being a top student as well as a top goalkeeper in a competitive level. I strive to be the best goalkeeper I can be and that is the reason why I work so hard. I am not a goalkeeper who stays under the net the whole game, i like being very involved in the game and encourage my teammates to play back to me whenever they can in order to build the play up from the back. My Coach Pedro taught me that a goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at their feet helps the team out so much more because it is like having an extra player on the field. I love my position because I like to take action and be a leader on the field. I have always played with and against people much older than me and ever since I turned 15, I started to play in adult leagues and tournaments where I was playing against people in their 20’s and 30’s.  My goal is to play Division 1 soccer and also study to become a pharmacist.
