My name is Dimitris Repoulis, I'm 17 years old and a junior in high school. Growing up in Europe (mainly Germany), soccer has always been a part of my life (I played on my school teams ever since I can remember). I have always pushed myself to improve, practice and learn more. It has been a personal goal of mine to challenge myself to reach new heights and be the best player I can be. I like to challenge and push myself and have always taken that mentality and implemented it into everything that I do on and off the pitch. I consider myself to be a very competitive person who always plays to win but at the same time I am a team player and am ready to make sacrifices when necessary for the benefit of the team. My greatest strength would have to be my vision on the pitch as I tend to see unconventional passes/openings and have a vision for the bigger picture.
In the summer before 10th grade, I moved to the United States with my family. In my sophomore year I played for the junior varsity team at my high school and was an occasional starter. This year I was on the varsity team and was a substitute, with a good amount of minutes played. We had a pretty successful year as we won our league and placed second at sectionals. Currently I am on a travel team but am looking for a club to help me prepare for the collegiate level and allow me to play all year round. Last year I was on the jv basketball team (in Germany I played both jv and club). This year I decided though that I would like to focus my efforts on soccer and therefore joined the school winter track team to stay in shape.
I take my academics very seriously. Having recently moved to the US (sophomore year) and coming from a full IB program (from 1st grade), the system here has been somewhat of an adjustment. My grades last year did suffer as I got used to this new system. Make no mistake I am a very self driven person and academics are a priority for me and my family. Heading into my junior year my grades now have improved (see first term grades and Regent's test scores). I particularly enjoy history.
My goal for the future is to go somewhere that I can play and enjoy competitive soccer, but the academics are also a vital consideration for me. I enjoy learning AND I love playing soccer.
