Personal Statement

My name is Kalyjan, I'm 16 years of age from Larchmont, N.Y. studying at Mamaroneck High School.

Originally from London, now based in New York, I currently play for FC Westchester’s NAL team and my high school varsity squad. I’ve trained at Chelsea FC and Fulham, played for Carshalton Athletic and Nigel James Elite Academy in the United Kingdom.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2022, I earned an immediate spot on FC Westchester’s U14 A-team (MLS Next) and later played for White Plains Youth Soccer before rejoining FCW at the NAL level. In Summer 2024, I trained at a "La Liga" camp in Madrid, attended multiple ID camps, and was selected as an EXACT 11 International Player, set to compete in Milan, Italy in 2025.

A versatile midfielder, I excel in attacking and holding roles. My strengths—dribbling, passing, and athleticism—are backed by a relentless work ethic. I train daily, balancing gym sessions, technical drills, and three weekly team practices at SUNY Purchase. I run a 6:57 mile and 13:54 two miles, constantly pushing to improve.

Beyond soccer, I apply myself academically, excelling in English and languages while working to meet targets in math. Fluent in English and Spanish, I took advanced French in the U.K. My goal is to play NCAA/NAIA soccer in 2026, combining my passion for the game with my interest in sports, entrepreneurship and global experiences.

One to One Technical Training with Aaron McCann

Reference from Coach Aaron (dated 22nd March 2022): My name is Aaron McCann and I have coached Kalyjan across various programmes over the last 5 years, attending many of his fixtures within that period. It has been a pleasure. Kalyjan is a very hard-working young man with an incredibly supportive and loving family behind him. Because of this, Kalyjan shows a willingness and desire to get the most out of each and every practice. Both on and off the pitch he understands the importance of testing and challenging himself to gain the most out of each session. Kalyjan is a Chelsea FC loving football fanatic, that and a great family have really driven his growth as an athlete. Playing as a creative forward, Kalyjan is a player who enjoys contributing to goals, quick attacking plays, and 1vs1 situations. In recent times we have seen Kalyjan enjoy expressing himself in Midfield areas also, I feel he will thrive here with his physical attributes, receiving ability and his already very strong passing range. Kalyjan’s conditioning is superb, he regularly trains 1:1 on a Saturday and Sunday before attending fixtures for his School and club on both those days. I have praised Kalyjan over the years for training 1-2-1 as early as 7am on days where he later joins his teams for games. Again, demonstrating not just his physical capability, but also a willingness to work and learn also. He has a very mature approach to work for his young age. I’m really looking forward to this next chapter for Kalyjan. As his coach of course I am sad to see such an example to others leave, but I feel this move will allow Kalyjan to find new challenges and to further demonstrate his abilities on and off the pitch.

Reference from Ben Rogers Manager of Carshalton Athletic (Yellows U14) - (21st March 2022): I have been coaching Kalyjan for the last two seasons where he has become a key part of our U14 Carshalton Athletic football team both as a player and as a team mate. Kalyjan has been brilliant to work with, he is a very popular member of our squad and has a good relationship with his teammates and has constantly shown a willingness to work hard, learn, and always give the best of himself both in training and in matches. He is very technically gifted and when at his best, glides with the ball at his feet and makes playing look easy. He plays predominantly as a forward or attacking player behind the striker or out wide and as well as being good on the ball, is very intelligent with his running to create space and chances for his team mates. I was disappointed to hear we would be losing him but am excited for him to pick up his football journey in a brand new country on this fantastic new adventure with his family. I have no doubts he will have no problem finding a new team and whoever is lucky enough to bring him on board will be getting a top player and more importantly a fantastic person who is a team player above everything else. He will be a miss for us and not easy to replace which is testament to how hard he has worked over the last couple of years and I hope he continues to show his talent and goes on to fufill the promise that he has.
