Personal Statement

Hi,

 My name is Michael James (MJ) Racic. I am looking to continue to play at the college level. Some facts about myself:

-Playing style wise, I am defense first/pass oriented vs. playing kick ball.

-I am dedicated to my school work as I am to playing. So excelling is school is just as important to me as what I do on the field. 

-My attitude is team first and I always look to encourage my teammates on and off the field.

  • As a grandchild of Italian and Croatian immigrants soccer has been in my life since day one. I have played football, hockey, volleyball and basketball but soccer has always been number one for me. I have been playing soccer since I was two years old and I have played travel soccer consistently since I have been 7/8 years old. I have been playing for Manhasset Pride Division I for the past three years. We won first place in the 2020-2021 seasons and second place in the 2021-2022 seasons. We are consistent first and second place performers in Division I. This team merged with my original team the Port Washington Kangaroos. My Port Washington team was in the Elite Division and we were in first and second place from 2015 to Fall 2019. We won one state cup in that time frame. During covid my Port Washington team broke up and some of us transferred to the Manhasset Pride team. I was a starter on my Port Washington team as a CDM and when I joined my Manhasset team I converted full-time to a starting CB. Depending on the formation I also have played the outside back. We play a 4-3-3 holding. Our team is a good defensive minded team.
  • 2019 St. Peter of Alcantara Middle School (Long Island Catholic School)
  • Our middle school won the championship. I was captain of our team. It was such a fun experience.
  • 2018 Port Washington Kangaroos (Elite Division )
  • I have played travel soccer with Port Washington since I was 7 or 8 years old. Our team won a State Cup and was in first and second place from 2015- fall 2019. Our team broke apart during Covid and a few of us joined my current team the Manhasset Pride. I learned so much working with this team.
  • 2014 Port Washington Pirates (Premier Elite Divison)
  • I started my travel soccer career with the Port Washington Pirates. I was always a starter and I learned to play multiple positions on this team. It was such a great experience. I played for them for years while also playing with the Port Washington Kangaroos. Eventually I became a full-time Port Washington Kangaroo.
