Jonathan Hernandez '24 Recruiting Profile

Growing up I didn't always have it easy. I was quiet, lonely, and I didn't have many friends.  But throughout all of that there was one thing that I always loved no matter what, and that was soccer.  Soccer helped me find friends, improve my grades at an academic level, and given me a purpose to do something I love.  I didn't start out as a good soccer player, but slowly I've advance and improved throughout my soccer career so far thanks to my  coaches, friends, and family because if not for them I don't think I'd be writing this personal statement about myself.  Soccer has changed my life for the better because its taught me life lessons such as leadership, hard work, sacrifice, and commitment. It's also taught me the value of friendship and putting your team's needs above your own because soccer above all else is a team sport.  Currently I am the captain for my club/travel soccer team and I know the responsibilities of that title. I take soccer very serious and always try to be an example to all my teammates at practices and games.  All in all I am grateful for everyone who's helped play a part on my journey here and I believe that I can make a real difference to whichever program is willing to give me the opportunity at playing at a college level.
