Personal Statement
I have played soccer since the age of 5 and have always had a passion for the game. My love, commitment and dedication to this sport has shaped me to be the person I am today. Through soccer, I have developed physically, but I’ve learned the most from the mental challenges of balancing my family, friends, education, vigorous training, games and tournament, to be my best self. I believe in striving not just to be a better player, but more importantly, to be a well-rounded person so I can give back and grow as part of my team. Off the field, I enjoy learning about business and have started a business selling products such as fidget spinners, collectible sneakers and luxury designer items. I am self-taught and operate my own website and solely manage my online business. I use my experience to be focused and driven to excel not only in soccer, but in school academically and in life.
With soccer, I've experienced the indescribable joy of winning and the heart-breaking feelings of defeat. Like most players, I learned more from my failures. I understand that losing is part of the game. Strong communication, respect and supporting your teammates is part of sportsmanship, and striving to optimally perform gets me through the vigorous practices and training. I work well under stress and rely on my developed skills and instincts to easily adapt to any situation. My strengths are my speed, technical abilities, leadership and understanding of the game. I've instilled these traits and beliefs in all aspects of my life and bring it to every game. My biggest weakness is my current lack of size. Luckily, my father is 6’1” and he grew in college so I know there is a possibility that I will get taller. However, that is not up to me, so I instead try and focus more on what I can control. I never let my lack of ideal height be an excuse. This is who I am and what I could bring to your school and team. Given the opportunity, I am willing to do whatever it takes to prove myself and earn being considered a valuable member of your program. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me.
