One of my biggest accomplishments was making the varsity soccer team my sophomore year. My school team's "golden age" seemed to come to a close, and a new batch of student-athletes, including myself, were put to the test against the toughest teams in our borough. I feel I grew the most in that year, because as a young, unexperienced team we failed to make the playoffs. I learned how it would feel to lose a game, on a Tuesday, then come back on Thursday and try with even more effort to win the next one. The experience helped me grow as a soccer player, to always get back up after defeat and stay on the grind no matter what. It made me want to step up my game to help my team succeed the following year. I learned the value of teamwork, commitment and dedication that year without making the playoffs. I'm looking for a college where I will thrive athletically and academically. I believe I have the talent to play at a college level, as well as the character, work-ethic, and positive attitude to impact the team.
